During the first wave of the Covid19 pandemic in the UK, I got to go in the water for some work. It was a misty grey day, but not as cold as the mist may imply.
The boat I was to work off came into the pontoon and it was a big old fishing catamaran, 12mtr long by 6mtr beam. Stable as can be. John, the crew, assisted loading on the kit, Steve the skipper looked like a Norse god, but a gentle giant in reality. All the kit was loaded and we headed out through the lock and away down the Haven.
En-route myself and Dave the dive supervisor, had a brief about the job and watched a video of the prior work that had been done on the site. We’re off to repair and service three moorings in the mouth of the Cleddau Estuary known as the Haven.
These are private moorings linked to an old fort based in the Estuary.
I was informed that previously a DIY job was carried out on them, however it didn’t hold and as a result they had failed. As such, we were now off to fix them. Three dives, more than two hours underwater and everything was sorted. Chain, shackles, pickup buoys, and surface markers checked, inspected and replaced where required.
End result is three fixed moorings, and a happy client.
If you need any moorings serviced, repaired or installed just get in touch and we can discuss your needs – I can usually beat most quotes that you may have had – fully insured and experienced in this field.
