Today we are Diving Wastwater! We were greeted with a stunning morning at Turners Hall campsite. Following a brew, we packed up and headed off to Wastwater, stopping briefly at The Sawmill Cafe for some very tasty bacon baps.
Arriving at the lake, Dan and I met up with Mark and Yasmin. We had a brief, checked kit, analysed everything and double checked stuff.
The dive leaves the shore and heads out for about 150mtr to the top of a pinnacle in 13mtr. On the top of the pinnacle is a memorial to some who’ve gone before and are no longer with us. Quite sobering.
The dive continued down the pinnacle descending through crystal clear water, yet very dark. At around 45mtr are a gnome garden, a few road signs and a washing machine 🤷♂️
We took a bearing and headed out across the silty bottom to our max depth of 60mtr.
We explored the bottom but there’s not much to see, we headed back towards the gnome garden and explored the bottom of the pinnacle.
After a controlled ascent we got to our final decompression stop where a game of rock, paper, scissors ensued.
We surfaced just shy of 90mins. An epic dive finishing off a Trimix course that’s been postponed due to a lack of oxygen at the gas filling centre when we tried a month ago.
Diving complete and I’m en-route home ready for some work in West Wales tomorrow.
Hope you have had an awesome day, stay safe.
