Wales BSAC Regional ADP Course

We’ve just finished delivering a BSAC Accelerated Decompression Procedures (ADP) course at National Diving and Activity Centre, organised by the Welsh Regional coach.

Working with the region, we as a BSAC centre, delivered the course for 7 students.

The weather was good, the water was warm, and the students were keen. Day1 consisted of drills and skills helping the students understand the new kit, develop new techniques and introducing them to the entry lever of tech diving.

Kit configuration used to be fixed to one type suits all, but as part of BSAC latest development and progression, divers with most setups are able to be taught safely utilising their setups, and introducing where we can industry best practice.

As such, we had a few divers on hog loop diving as primary donate, a side mount diver, and traditional BSAC AS. Ensuring that we met our duty of care criteria in that we had suitably qualified instructors in each discipline available to instruct and coach the varying setups we ran the course.

I’m addition, we had two trainee instructors, Jonathan Hudson and Tommy Evans, looking to achieve their ADP instructors qualification as well.

It’s been a busy weekend, but we succeeded in qualifying six new ADP divers and two new ADP instructors. In addition, we have helped develop one student to become better at their personal skills and buoyancy, allowing them to go away with a development plan to hopefully be able to carry on their plan of becoming an ADP diver.

Huge thanks go to the instructors working with me to make this happen; Nigel Hilburd, Chris Bennett and Martin Webb. Also thanks to Helen Evans and Joshua Lewis for shore cover and support.

If you’re interested in doing some technical diver training, then please get in touch with me.

I am a passionate adventurer, loving being in the mountains walking, climbing, scrambling as much as I love being under the water exploring shipwrecks, mines and caverns, or in search of treasure in the depths. My real passion lies in combining mountains and water and as such you’ll often find me either in the mountains altitude diving, or in the mountains ice diving. Both exhilarating and peaceful – allowing me to regenerate the inner me, whilst pushing myself physically and mentally.
